The office is led by Jack Greenwald, a former Chadbourne partner who has practiced law in Dubai since 1986 and has now rejoined the partnership. Mr. Greenwald will bring with him the full Greenwald Legal Consultancy staff of eight other lawyers and paralegals to form the nucleus of Chadbourne's expanding practice in the Middle East.
Dubai is Chadbourne's 13th office. A substantial presence in this burgeoning world financial center will provide a hub for the Firm's energy/project finance and cross-border acquisitions practices.
The Firm's client activities in the region have involved capital markets, privatizations, private placements and joint ventures, oil, gas and petrochemical projects and other infrastructure projects, and international arbitration. Work in the Gulf States, Turkey, North Africa and Sub-Sahara Africa had previously been supported principally from Chadbourne's London office. Clients now will be serviced on a more cost-effective basis from both Dubai and London and, as required, from the Firm's 11 other offices.
